Deployment Goals

Alright everyone, I need your help.

I'm setting goals and things I want to accomplish while the Mr. is deployed. It can be silly, fun, intense, anything! I only have seven things right now. And trust me, that won't get me through a one year deployment!

I'll be blogging about all my accomplishments.

Here is my list thus far:

1. Make a quilt
2. Learn to cook gourmet meals (one a week)
3. Complete a painting
4. Complete a tile mosaic
5. Do Yoga every morning
6. Complete a 10,000 piece puzzle
7. Take a pottery class
8. Strip and refinish bedroom furniture
9. Purchase a recipe box and fill it with recipes (preferably ones I made)
10. Become a Sommelier
11. Make a holiday turkey (or at least help)
12. Learn to make sushi rolls (tuna avocado anyone?)
13. Learn how to cross stitch, needlepoint, etc. (my mom knows how to do this)

That's all I have. Any ideas would be welcome!

  1. Ugh, stupid blogger, deleted my comment :( Those all sound so great!! Good luck, and I'd like to pre-order some sushi! :)

  2. These sound great. Have you thought of maybe writing a piece for a local paper or something?

  3. Those are really good goals! Sounds like lots of fun. How about some sort of volunteer or charity project? My husband is not deployed now, but I keep thinking about what I can do to help all the residents at our local Veterans' center this holiday season.

  4. Great goals! I agree with the above comment about volunteering somewhere in your community.

  5. While I'm a firm believer that volunteering is an extremely rewarding experience, I will (hopefully) have a job. I don't want to do both volunteering and a job, so that's why I'm seeking out other goals.

  6. Hopefully I won't get a flat tire but I kind of want to change one. I know it sounds silly but if I ever got a flat, I would want to change it. I know it would make my husband so proud! hahaha :)

  7. Whew, I'm tired after just reading that list. Lol... Are you sure a year is enough? ;)

  8. Claire - I'm assuming you think this is enough. Ha ha. Maybe I'm a little too ambitious. I want to be sure I have plenty of things to take up spare time. Someone DID tell me making a quilt is a lot of work. Remember, I'm presently unemployed and will be leaving for a few months, meaning I have TONS of free time :)

Beka - I'll teach you to change a flat ;) It's not that hard and it's easy to learn!

  9. I'm an army wife from Lancaster too! I love how your wedding pic is in front of the fountain on the square! Makes me miss Turkey Hill Iced Tea!
